About

Our family loves to read–individually and together. We are always looking for recommendations, so we welcome your comments and suggestions.

I, Amanda Bird, am a freelance writer and editor, with an MA in Comparative Literature from the University of Oregon and a BA in Journalism from Baylor University. My editing background includes fiction, nonfiction, and periodicals. Additional experience as a bookseller gives me broad familiarity with classic and contemporary literature.

My husband, Brian Bird, is a computer instructor at Lane Community College. His master’s is in linguistics from the University of Oregon. You can read his meditations on life and other mysteries at Unseen Realms. You can read more about our family travels at Birds’ Words.

We welcome your comments about books, reading, travel, or life in general. You can also use the form below to request more information about Book Nest editing services. We offer global and developmental editing, copy editing and proofreading for manuscripts, articles, and book proposals.

This is wonderful! I never have the time to read as much as I would like, so I don’t want to waste any time on “trying out” books. I like to read a book that someone else has recommended. I will love reading your blog!
    love,

Hello! I would love to read more of “Stories from the Land of Springs”. In fact, ideally I would love to assign it for my class on Central Asian history. Is the translation completed? Has it been published? Please let me know more about this. Congratulations on all that you do – we need more English translations of Central Asian literature!

  3. Amanda,
I also love your blog as well as the Book Nest and your Thursday luncheons.
